New Food Lion

Today is the Grand Opening for the Food Lion in Tyro! What a great day it is! I never have to go very far to the market now!!!! I never have to shop at Wal-mart any more!!!! Since I had to work, Jamey dropped by this morning & picked up some free goodies for me. I am planning on going after work today, I have to pick up some eggs to make a Danish Puff Pastry for the office plus one to have taken to a co-worker's whose husband passed away Sunday. I am so excited!!!! I am as excited as a student going on a field trip to the zoo.

Emma's in The Dispatch - Again!

Mr. Osborne, Emma's Social Studies teacher won $1000 worth of technology. Here's the link to the article. http://www.the-dispatch.com/article/20081107/ARTICLES/811070285/1005?Title=Teachers_win_money_for_technology#

Rowan Revolution

Today was the last game of the fall season. They played a great game using everything they had learned on since August. The score card showed the game tied 2-2, but that's only the score card -- not how they played or the ways calls were or WEREN'T called. Time to work on skills & kept conditioned for the spring - unless indoor soccer beckons Michael's to pay attention to it.... we'll see.....

Michael's 10!!!!!

:-( Season's over...

Last night, West lost 3-2 in the second round of the 2-A playoffs. The boys played well as they always do.

The boys in the picture are Michael's resident heroes. From left to right, Will Triechler, Diego Carvallo & Patrick Boger

Night @ Catawba

The Catawba Indians faced the Lincoln Memorial University last night in Salisbury. Unfortunately, they lost 0-1 to the Railsplitters. There is a story on the game at http://gocatawbaindians.athleticsite.com/article.asp?articleID=3261 Michael and his teammates were ball boys during the game. During halftime, smaller goals were set up and a mini field was created half of the main field. The boys played a friendly game against each other. It was fun to hear the college kids cheer for the little ones.
In the picture with Michael is Matt Halton from The Woodlands, Texas who is a Junior at Catawba. Matt plays defender, which is the same position Michaels plays mostly. Michael made it a point to find Matt after the game. Michael had met Matt during a Skills Night that Catawba holds occassionally.
As a side note, only 7 of the 25 players for the Railsplitters are from the USA. The other ones are mostly Brazilian with a couple of English and Canadians. If you are a soccer fan, I highly suggest to check out local colleges to watch. You will NEVER complain about high school refs again!

I was thinking about doing another family cookbook. I was wondering how much interest there was in a new one.

Emma made the paper - sorta!

Take a look in the back ground.
That's our Em holding the ball sitting on the bench last night when West beat Leford.

Poor Gracie Baby!

Unfortunately, Gracie found a fire ant mount at the soccer field today while joining us today watching Michael play. Parents - from both teams - helped to get her safe and comfortable as possible after the ants had been killed and removed from her poor legs.
Just got an update from mom & she said that Gracie is sleeping now and is doing fine.
Please say an extra prayer for Gracie tonight as fire ant bites hurt like the dickens.

Welcome!

Welcome to our family's blog! I have a myspace page, but most of our family doesn't use the site, so I have created this to share pictures and the other going ons with our family. The picture below was taken September 1 at Boones Cave in front of the 250 year old Cottonwood Tree.
